The Oars of Hope took place in 2011 and 2013.
Hundreds of well wishers lined the banks of the Boyne on Saturday to welcome the 16 amazing men who rowed from the Isle of Man to Drogheda for charity. The crew rowed in rotation, covering 71 nautical miles between Manx in the Isle of Man and the Boyne in Drogheda in a record time of just under 12 hours.
In 2013, the challenge took place again with the intention of rowing over & back to the Isle of Man, but unfortunately the crews, which this time featured more women rowers than in 2011, having successfully rowed to the Isle of Man, were advised due to bad weather not to complete the return crossing and unfortunately had to return home on the support boats.
