Our Boats

We have 3 One Design All Ireland boats – Boann, Solstice and The Crusher.  They are used for training and competitions.

We still have the club’s original boat Bean Threasa which was built in 2010 by Roddy O Connor in Cork.

It was commissioned for the Isle Of Man Row in 2011 as a sea going boat and has the hull of a one design fibre glass skiff with a flared Bow easily cutting through waves.  Recently the boat has been upgraded with a new Keel making her more stable while out at sea.

The club also has 2 traditional Irish boats known as Currachs.

A traditional Irish skin boat dating back to the Neolithic period, built with a wooden frame, once covered with animal hide but today a canvas is stretched across it.  One of the first boats in Irish history, it played a crucial role in advancing civilisation around Britain and Ireland from the travelling settlers and the spread of farming and religion.
